Town Trash & Recycling
Forest Township maintains the trash dumpsters and recycling bins at the town yard for the convenience of Town Residents ONLY.
The town provides two trash dumpsters, a large co-mingle bin, and a paper/cardboard dumpster at the Town Hall. During the year, only BAGGED garbage may be deposited in the dumpsters under the shelter (provide your own bags). There is an “Honor Box” for you to deposit your payment of $3.00 per bag of garbage. Already this year the town’s expenses exceed our collections by over $3,300. We appreciate your continued efforts to keep your taxes down.
NOTE: The large Co-Mingle recycling bin is provided at no charge and includes: Glass, aluminum, tin, and plastic. There is a separate dumpster behind the recycle bin for paper and cardboard. Please do not dispose of your plastic grocery bags in these bins. (Empty your recyclables out into the bin.) Please help keep these areas neat and accessible.
LARGE/UNBAGGED ITEMS ARE ONLY ACCEPTED AT THE SPRING & FALL CLEAN-UP DAYS.
E-Waste: WI DNR E-Cycle and Goodwill of Richland Center websites have information on e-cycling. Please visit their websites for further information.
Mattresses: To cut down on waste and preserve landfill space, mattress owners are encouraged to get rid of their old mattresses using alternative means. Mattress Disposal Guide features helpful tips for donating, recycling, reselling, and reusing old or used mattresses. Other mattress disposal resources: How to Dispose of a Mattress and How and Where to Get Rid of Your Mattress
DO NOT LEAVE APPLIANCES, FURNITURE, OR OTHER LARGE ITEMS DURING THE YEAR. THE FINE IS $300.00. THE TOWN HAS CAMERAS AND TURNS IN THE PHOTOS OF VIOLATORS TO THE SHERIFF’S DEPARTMENT. Restitution has been made by violators who have been apprehended & fined.
Please be sure to place your money for bagged trash in the honor box.
